Blue Wings is the materialization of an academic dream of a nesting place far from the busy congested living ambiance of Kerala, living in a few acres of land as the Great poet dreamt of. The land handed over by Madam. Lisa Hauri-a Switzerland Nature Lover has been transformed into Blue Wings.
Bluewings, amidst a forest plantation on the bank of BhoothathanKettu reservoir in Periyar river, embracing the Kerala State Biodiversity Board has shown special interest in the biodiversity around the home. The flora consists of around 150 larval host and nectar plants for butterflies. The plantation forest around, inhabitants wild boars, sambars, deers, langurs, porcupines, etc. and none of the ferocious ones, provides a safe and peaceful stay with a lot of recreational facilities such as mud house stay, fishing, country, and pedestal boat events in shallow waters, cycling inside and outside the premises, machine-assisted tree climbing, shuttle badminton, swimming, cooking classes, agricultural works, pets caring, etc. provision for Ayurvedic treatments also will be arranged on prior demand. The intermixed Areca, Pepper and banana plantation cultivated in the organic way is purposefully created to support the biodiversity. All plants needed for fodder, nector and colour for the butterflies are conserved. Emphasis is given to care the IUCN red listed ones. Tropical fruit trees 100+ with their fruits, decorate this small paradise. The nearby forest inhabitates a variety of species. You may be fortunate to watch the Slender loris seen only in South India. Dozens of varieties of butterflies (many of which are endemic to western Ghats) are usually seen in the premises.
